Good to Great

Jim Collins adalah penulis bestseller, Good to Great, why some companies make the Leap…. And others Don’t, 2001. Sebelumnya Collins juga menulis buku yang sangat laris dengan judul: Built to Last yang dalam setahun sudah tercetak laris sebanyak satu juta copy. Dalam bukunya, Good to Great, Collins merekomendasikan beberapa hal yang sangat penting untuk kemajuan suatu perusahaan, antara lain: 1. Good is the enemy of Great. 2. Level 5Leadership 3. First who…..then What 4. A culture of discipline 5. Technology accelerators 6. From good to great to built last Good is enemy of great. Cepat berpuas diri adalah musuh utama untuk mencapai “keagungan”. Mendapat pujian yang banyak, tentu demikian pula halnya. First Who….then What. We expected that goot-to-great leaders would begin by setting a new vision and strategy. We found instead that they first got the right people on the bus, the wrong people off the bus, and the right people in the right seats—and then they figured out where to drive it. The old adage People are your most important asset turns out to be wrong. People are not your important asset. The right people are. A culture of discipline. All companies have a culture, some companies have discipline, but few companies have a culture of discipline. When you have discipline people, you don’t need hierarchy. When you have disciplined thought, you don’t need bureaucracy. When you have disciplined action, you don’t need excessive controls. When you combine a culture of discipline with an ethic of entrepreneurship, you get the magical alchemy of great performance. Technology accelerators. What rationale did people use to justify these rather extraordinary numbers? New technology will change everything, the logic went….the internet is going to completely revolutionize all businesses, the gurus chanted. New technology…..new economy Building Trust Low Trust society----high level of trust-----Steven Covey----Speed of Trust, 2006. Wa Allah a'lam.
